Old Fashioned
BuildRocksGarnish: Orange peel
Ingredients
- 2 ozBuffalo Trace Bourbon
- ¼ ozSimple syrup
- 2 dashAngostura Aromatic Bitters
Method
In a rocks glass, combine syrup and bitters. Add bourbon and stir. Add a large ice cube and stir gently to chill. Express an orange peel over the glass and use it as garnish.
Notes
The Old Fashioned is arguably the original definition of 'cocktail': spirit, sugar, water, bitters. Use a high-rye bourbon or rye whiskey for a spicier result. Demerara 2:1 syrup adds molasses depth that white simple syrup lacks.
